Baby Blues – Services
From the moment you leave hospital the focus in your life has changed.
You are now responsible for a new life as well as yourself.
Through pregnancy and childbirth you would have experienced many changes, these will continue for sometime after the baby is born and can affect the way you think and feel, this can be due to many factors such as hormonal imbalances, mineral and vitamin deficiencies, sleep deprivation, difficult pregnancy/birth or lifestyle changes.
If a woman presents to me with post natal anxiety or depression and has never suffered with this before before baby was born, the first thing I would check would be her hormones which can wreck havoc on the way we think and feel.
During pregnancy the levels of hormone progesterone in the mother increase by 50 to 100 times, yet within three days of giving birth they will be back to normal, a woman can lose up to 75% of her hormones through the delivery of the placenta alone.
With this kind of dramatic plummeting in hormones it is hardly surprising that a woman may suffer from post natal anxiety/depression.
Progesterone cream applied to the skin once or twice a day at the correct doseage can work wonders to naturally rise progesterone levels back to their normal ranges.
By increasing progesterone, estrogen levels will also be corrected back to their normal levels.
Renown American obstetrician Christiane Northrup is recommending that any woman who may be prone to PND should use progesterone cream the minute the baby is born.
We are taught how to breast feed, change nappies, and general safety for the baby, but many of us are not prepared for how a baby may make YOU feel.
I am here to help you as the referral point to check your progesterone levels through a saliva test and to deal with all the other issues may arise after baby is born.
